The City of Bowie has been recognized with a prestigious Climate & Energy Leadership Award for its innovative Food Waste Drop-Off Site initiative at the Kenhill Center. The award was presented by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments during a ceremony held on September 11. Bowie's project aims to reduce food waste and its environmental impact by providing residents a convenient location to dispose of food scraps, which are then composted rather than sent to landfills. The initiative is part of the city's broader commitment to sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This recognition highlights Bowie's ongoing efforts to promote environmentally friendly practices within the community, making it easier for residents to participate in the fight against climate change.
