Strengthening Bowie’s Business Community: The Role of the Economic Development Committee
The Economic Development Committee plays a vital role in enhancing the economic well-being of Bowie. Its primary mission is to advise the City Council on economic development, while actively participating in the creation, implementation, and refinement of the city's economic development strategy. The committee focuses on boosting local job creation, retaining businesses, increasing the tax base, and improving the overall quality of life.
Key responsibilities include contributing to the Area Master Plan, providing feedback on business growth efforts, and offering a platform for community and business engagement. The committee collaborates with local, state, and federal agencies to support marketing strategies and promote the retention and expansion of existing businesses. Ultimately, the committee works to expand Bowie’s economic base and offer informed recommendations to the City Council on related issues.
