Quote of the Day

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” —Vincent Van Gogh

Explore Bowie: A Trail Paradise for Walkers, Cyclists, and Equestrians

Bowie, Maryland, offers an extensive network of trails for outdoor enthusiasts, making it a haven for walkers, cyclists, and horseback riders. With miles of scenic pathways, the city provides a natural escape from urban life, perfect for those who prefer non-motorized modes of transportation. The trails are designed for various activities, ensuring that everyone, from casual walkers to avid equestrians, can enjoy the outdoor experience.

Horseback riding is permitted on all county trails and parks unless otherwise noted, giving equestrians plenty of space to explore. Riders are also welcome on the popular Washington Baltimore & Annapolis (WB&A) Trail, a regional favorite. Whether on foot, bike, or horseback, Bowie’s trails offer a peaceful way to enjoy nature while staying active. The city’s commitment to preserving these paths makes it a vibrant destination for outdoor recreation.

Thinking About Putting a Fence Up in Bowie?

In Bowie, an interior lot is defined as a parcel of land with frontage on a public street, private road, or right-of-way, bordered by two or more adjacent lots. Unlike corner or through lots, interior lots have specific fencing regulations.

If you plan to build a new fence or privacy wall over 4 feet tall on an interior lot, both Prince George's County and the City of Bowie require building permits. Fences are typically limited to 6 feet in height, unless a special variance is granted. Fences cannot be placed in the front yard between the building line and the street, and rear yard fences must be set back 25 feet if adjacent to another front yard. Caution is advised when installing fences along property lines, and written agreements between neighbors are recommended for shared "division" fences.

Seattle Seahawks guard Christian Haynes is making a name for himself in the NFL, representing his hometown of Bowie, Maryland. Drafted in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the 24-year-old had a standout career at the University of Connecticut, where he started 49 consecutive games and earned All-America honors in 2022 and 2023.

Haynes credits his older brother, Marcus, a Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad linebacker, for guiding him through the professional ranks. Entering the NFL, Haynes appreciates the mentorship of Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald, praising his tactical knowledge and calm leadership style.

Reflecting on his journey, Haynes emphasized the importance of hard work and consistency, values he developed by choosing to attend public school in Bowie rather than pursuing private education opportunities.

In Arsenic and Old Lace, drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s plans to announce his engagement are derailed when he discovers a corpse in his aunts’ home. He soon learns that his elderly aunts, Abby and Martha, are responsible for the murder, having poisoned the man. As Mortimer navigates his aunts’ deadly hobby, his brother’s delusion of being Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother on the run from the law, he struggles with his own fears about marriage. This classic black comedy blends murder, madness, and family dysfunction in a hilariously chaotic tale.

Drama by Joseph Kesselring Produced by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, Inc. Directed by: Randy Tusing
