City of Bowie Accepting 2025 Grant Applications for Cultural and Educational Initiatives
The City of Bowie’s Arts, Community Outreach, and Education Committees are now accepting grant applications for the 2025 fiscal year. These grants are available to individuals, organizations, and community groups whose projects align with the committees’ goals of enhancing arts, education, and community engagement within Bowie. Eligible projects may include cultural programs, educational research, community outreach initiatives, and other efforts that contribute to the city’s cultural and educational growth. Applicants must demonstrate how their proposals support these objectives and provide clear plans for implementation. The grant application process is competitive, and those interested are encouraged to apply early. Applications will be reviewed based on creativity, impact, and alignment with the city’s priorities. This initiative reflects Bowie’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and well-educated community.
Grants available with the City of Bowie are as follows, most having a September 20, 2024 deadline.
Arts Grants: For artists and arts organizations curating a class, project, or event involving Bowie residents in an interactive arts experience.
Community Outreach Grant: For individuals and organizations planning to implement a program to meet the needs of City of Bowie residents.
Education Grant: Awarded to teachers, parent groups, and individ- uals from eligible community schools who have creative ideas for projects and programs that will enrich student learning.
Academic Team Travel Grant: Helps cover the cost of travel for student academic teams to attend state, regional, national, or interna- tional academic competitions.

The Prince George’s County Genealogical Society, established in 1969, manages an extensive genealogical research center with a strong emphasis on Maryland and its counties, particularly Prince George’s County. While the collection primarily focuses on local history, it also extends nationwide, with significant resources on Eastern states, migration routes, and other specialized topics.
The library boasts a collection of 5,500 volumes, including periodicals, family group sheets, Bible records, and microforms. Located in a 1961 Levitt-built ranch house, the facility is open to the public and fully accessible for individuals with disabilities. This valuable resource serves as a hub for genealogical research, offering a wealth of information for both local and national ancestry projects.
