Bowie’s Guidelines for Parking on Private Property - What You Need to Know

The City of Bowie's Code Compliance department enforces parking regulations on private property, while street parking is overseen by the Police Department. Vehicles parked on residential lots must be operative, placed on a paved surface, and comply with zoning regulations. Prohibited vehicles include inoperative vehicles, such as those that are dismantled, have flat tires, or lack valid registration. Commercial vehicles are also restricted if they have 300 cubic feet or more of load space, exceed 7,500 lbs. in gross weight, have dual rear axles, display large lettering or graphics, or are specialized vehicles like tow trucks or cranes. These vehicles are only permitted if parked inside a private garage.
