Bowie’s Lawn Care Equipment Rebate Programs

The Lawn Care Equipment Rebate Program provides residents with rebates ranging from $25 to $50 when they purchase electric lawn mowers, weed whackers, leaf blowers, or hedge trimmers. To receive your rebate, just bring proof of City residency and your purchase receipt to City Hall. Opting for electric tools not only helps you save on fuel costs but also reduces emissions and contributes to a quieter, cleaner environment. For further details, contact the Sustainability Manager at 301-809-3044 or visit www.cityofbowie.org/lawncarerebates.

Best Times to Travel Across the Bay Bridge During the Upcoming Holiday

More than 350,000 vehicles are expected to cross the Bay Bridge during the holiday weekend from Friday, August 30, to Labor Day Monday, September 2. Significant delays are likely in both directions, especially during peak travel hours. To minimize congestion and keep local roads clear for residents and emergency responders, motorists are encouraged to stay on US 50 on both sides of the bridge.

For the smoothest travel experience, consider crossing the Bay Bridge during these recommended off-peak times:

  • Thursday, August 29 – before 12 p.m. and after 8 p.m.

  • Friday, August 30 – before 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m.

  • Saturday, August 31 – before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

  • Sunday, September 1 – before 11 a.m. and after 6 p.m.

  • Labor Day Monday, September 2 – before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.

Community Matters today in the Highbridge Park Community

Join Police Chief Dwayne A. Preston and local officers for the "Community Matters" meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 6 p.m. This gathering will take place outdoors in the picnic area at Highbridge Park, located in the 6300 block of Gwinnett Lane. Chief Preston invites all Bowie residents to come and share their issues and concerns in an open and welcoming environment. This is a great opportunity to engage directly with the Chief and the officers who serve your community. All are encouraged to attend and participate in this important conversation.
