Quote of the Day

“Good morning and Happy Thursday! Today’s agenda: tackle work with a grin, conquer challenges with humor, and convince Thursday that it’s actually Friday in disguise.” — Medium

Snapshot of Bowie’s Real Estate Market

The Bowie housing market continues to trend as a sellers market which happens when demand for homes exceeds supply, allowing sellers to negotiate better terms. Homes sell quickly, often above asking price, as buyers compete for limited inventory, leading to higher prices and increased competition.

Maryland Farmers Affected by Drought Eligible for Low-Interest Federal Assistance

Governor Wes Moore has announced that Maryland farmers affected by recent drought conditions are now eligible for low-interest federal loans provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The financial assistance targets farmers in central and western Maryland, where dry weather has caused significant crop losses, particularly in Allegany, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, Howard, Montgomery, and Washington counties.

The loans are designed to help farmers recover from drought-related losses, covering expenses such as equipment replacement, livestock replenishment, and farm reorganization. The USDA will assess loans based on the severity of losses and the borrower’s ability to repay.

Farmers are encouraged to apply through their local county service centers, where additional information is available.

Baysox Edge SeaWolves 7-6 in Extra-Inning Thriller

Enrique Bradfield Jr. made a memorable Double-A home debut, playing a key role in the Bowie Baysox's thrilling 7-6 walk-off win against the Erie SeaWolves. Bradfield sparked the Baysox early, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a triple to left-center and scoring on a Dylan Beavers sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1. Reed Trimble’s solo home run in the third inning gave Bowie a brief 2-1 lead before Erie responded with two runs in the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bowie regained the lead with a clutch two-RBI single from Anthony Servideo. However, Erie quickly tied the game and took a 7-6 lead by the eighth inning. Bradfield once again came through, driving in the tying run in the eighth with a single to left, leaving him just a home run short of hitting for the cycle.

The game went to extra innings, where Bowie reliever Bradley Brehmer kept Erie off the scoreboard in the 10th. In the bottom half, Tavian Josenberger laid down a bunt that led to an errant throw, allowing Servideo to score the winning run and seal a dramatic victory for the Baysox.
