Although it’s not quite back-to-school season for Prince George’s County students, the school system is actively hiring with over a month to go before classes resume. Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) is hosting district-wide recruitment events this week. A hiring Palooza focused on staffing the new Ellen Ochoa Middle School in Landover Hills drew 500 to 600 attendees.

PGCPS, serving over 133,000 students and employing nearly 20,000 staff, urgently needs teachers, bus drivers, dedicated aides, special education assistants, and Registered School Nurses, as well as new food service staff and custodians. With a significant staffing shortage, including 200 unfilled bus driver positions and an educator deficit of 1,961, the district aims to fill positions quickly.

“We offer on-the-spot hiring, with demonstrations for roles like food services,” said Tiffany Doster, Senior Recruitment and Retention Advisor.
