Be Informed, Be Engaged: Bowie’s Elected Representatives
Knowing our elected city officials in Bowie is crucial for ensuring that our voices are heard in local governance. These officials make decisions on community development, public safety, and local services that directly impact your daily life. Engaging with them allows you to advocate for your needs and priorities, from improved infrastructure to enhanced educational programs. By staying informed about your representatives, you can hold them accountable and participate actively in the democratic process. Building a relationship with your city officials fosters a stronger, more responsive community, where collective efforts drive positive change and growth for all residents.
Join the Bowie High Mindfulness Walk for Children's Mental Health Awareness Today
May is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month. Bowie Youth & Family Services, in partnership with Bowie High School's Summit Program, will host a mindfulness walk between the two Bowie High campuses, starting at the main campus. This walk will feature signs with youth-friendly messages on mental health care, emotion management, and tips for finding help. The event aims to educate participants on mental health using the Wellness Wheel. The walk is free, open to the public, and encourages community participation. For more information on the Mental Health Association of Maryland's initiatives, visit MHAMD's campaign for increasing awareness of youth mental health issues.
This free walk starts at 5 p.m. at the main campus of Bowie High School and will be a round trip walk to the Annex on Belair Dr. and back.
