Enjoy License-Free Fishing in Maryland on Select Summer Dates

Credit: FOX5DC

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is offering three license-free fishing days this spring and summer. On June 1, June 8, and July 4, residents and visitors can fish without a license, trout stamp, or registration. These days allow anglers to fish in any tidal and nontidal waters of Maryland. However, all fishing regulations, including size and catch limits, must be followed as outlined in the department’s fishing guide.

Maryland has no limits on invasive fish like northern snakehead, blue catfish, and flathead catfish, encouraging anglers to catch and kill these species. Outside of these license-free days and specific areas, anyone 16 or older must have a fishing license, obtainable online, at service centers, retail agents, or by calling 866-344-8889.

The Bowie State women's basketball team hosted a Special Olympics basketball clinic at A.C. Jordan Arena, in partnership with Special Olympics Maryland Prince George's County.

Students from Bowie and Central High Schools participated in the clinic, where they received instruction on basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, shooting, rebounding, defense, agility, and passing, as well as sportsmanship and teamwork. The Bulldogs' women's basketball players led the activities, culminating in a 5-on-5 game showcasing the skills learned.

Head coach Shadae Swan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to provide a positive experience, noting the students' enthusiasm and the team's dedication to ensuring a successful event. The clinic highlights the significant role of athletics in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and fostering community engagement.
