Stay Secure: How to Spot and Avoid Card Skimmers

In the age of digital transactions, card skimmers pose a real threat to financial security. These devices, secretly attached to ATMs or gas pumps, steal your card information during a transaction. Here are five tips to help you stay protected:

1. Inspect the Machine: Before using an ATM or gas pump, check for anything unusual. If parts seem loose or misaligned, don’t use it.

2. Use Secure Locations: Opt for machines in well-lit, busy areas. Indoor ATMs in banks are generally safer than those on the street.

3. Shield Your PIN: Always cover the keypad with your hand when entering your PIN to block any hidden cameras from recording it.

4. Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly check your bank statements and set up alerts for any unauthorized transactions.

5. Use Contactless Payments: Whenever possible, use contactless methods like mobile payments which don't require you to insert your card.

By taking these precautions, you can help safeguard your personal and financial information against skimmers.
