Wonder about the monument in the front driveway of Bowie City Hall?

It’s the "Bowie Portal Sundial." Created by Taos, New Mexico artists Gino and Judith Schiavone, is a monumental structure located at the City Hall's front driveway. This unique sundial, supported by a steel base forming a symbolic entrance to Bowie's potential future, combines artistry with functionality. It took over a year to design and craft, plus more than a week for on-site installation. The sundial, perched on stainless steel posts, features a copper and brass dial, elegantly displaying time with a frosted glass surface for visibility from both inside City Hall and Excalibur Road. Surrounding the portal, bronze outlines of playing children and granite benches with etched running horses celebrate Bowie's heritage and future, emphasizing the city's history and its youth as vital assets.
