Bowie's Pet Owners Guide: Licensing Made Easy

Pet licensing in the City of Bowie serves as a cornerstone for responsible pet ownership and community health. Through Prince George's County, all dogs, cats, and ferrets must be licensed, with the validity of these licenses tied to the pet’s rabies vaccination, lasting up to three years. Licenses can be easily obtained at City Hall, indicating the city's commitment to accessible pet care and safety.

The licensing fees are modest: $10 for spayed/neutered pets and $25 for those unaltered, reflecting the city's encouragement of responsible pet practices. Seniors 65 and older benefit from two free licenses annually, provided their pets meet the vaccination and spaying/neutering criteria. A late fee of $3.50 is applied for renewals past 30 days of expiration, emphasizing the importance of timely compliance.

Necessary documentation includes proof of rabies vaccination and, if applicable, spaying or neutering. This initiative underscores Bowie’s dedication to ensuring a safe, healthy environment for both pets and residents, highlighting the value placed on community well-being and animal care.
