Blacksox Park in Bowie, Maryland, is significanct to the Bowie Blacksox, Negro Baseball Team. Willie Pearl McKay King was a member of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s executive staff from 1962 to 1966, where she notably typed his renowned "Letter from Birmingham Jail" using scraps of paper, including newspaper edges, napkins, and toilet paper. Although Willie Pearl and Dr. King share the same last name, they are not related.
