Empowering the Next Generation: US Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona's, Historic Visit to Bowie State University

The U.S. Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona, visited Bowie State University on February 6, 2024, during National School Counseling Week. The focus of his visit was to highlight the University's achievements in receiving two significant grants aimed at increasing the enrollment and preparation of students as school-based mental health professionals and educators of color. These grants, including a $5 million Mental Health Service Professional grant and a $1.5 million grant from the August F. Hawkins Centers of Excellence Program, are part of efforts to address critical needs in high-need schools across the nation.
