Meet Local Hero - Rhonda D. Green

Rhonda Green's inspiring journey from a compassionate child at funerals to the esteemed Funeral Services Director at First Baptist Church of Glenarden International, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, embodies her profound commitment to aiding individuals and families in navigating the complexities of loss and transition. Drawing from personal experiences of loss, including the deaths of her first husband and mother, Rhonda developed a deep understanding of the importance of pre-planning for life after a loved one's passing. This understanding led to her pivotal role in providing comprehensive funeral and memorial services, as well as educating the community on preparing for their final days.

Rhonda's significant contribution to the field is encapsulated in her book "My Exit Plan," published in 2019, which serves as a vital resource for end-of-life planning across the United States and beyond. Through her partnerships with end-of-life care professionals and her own extensive experience, Rhonda offers invaluable advice on managing the practical aspects of death to alleviate the burden of emotionally charged decisions for grieving families. Her philosophy—focusing on the preparations for death to enhance the quality of living—has resonated with many, as evidenced by the stress-free passing of her husband Ronald Green in November 2023, underlining the peace that comes from meticulous planning.

Rhonda Green's work transcends the mere logistics of funeral coordination, touching on the essence of living fully and leaving a legacy of preparedness and peace. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her life and work reflect a profound dedication to the well-being of others, making her a true beacon of support and guidance in the face of life's ultimate transition.
