Washington Commanders Part Ways with Coach Ron Rivera After Four Seasons
The Washington Commanders have dismissed head coach Ron Rivera after four seasons, including a disappointing 4-13 record in the latest season. Rivera, who was hired by former owner Dan Snyder, led the team to the playoffs once in 2020 but struggled to achieve on-field success. Josh Harris, the managing partner of the franchise's new ownership group, plans major changes, emphasizing a strategic shift in leadership. Rivera, who also served as the head of football operations, faced numerous challenges during his tenure, including health issues, team controversies, and frequent changes in quarterbacks and team names. The Commanders, under new management, are now seeking a new coach and football operations executive to rebuild the team, with a focus on the 2024 NFL Draft where they hold the second overall pick. The franchise aims to become an elite team competing for the Super Bowl.
