Bowie Bicyclists—The City Wants to Hear From You!

Whether you bike for exercise, recreation, commuting, or just an occasional ride around the neighborhood, your experience could help make Bowie more bicycle-friendly.

The City of Bowie recently applied to become a Bicycle Friendly Community through the League of American Bicyclists. As part of the review, the League is asking people who have biked in Bowie to share what it's really like to ride here.

Is it easy to get around? Do you feel safe? Where could Bowie improve? This is your chance to weigh in.

If you've ever ridden a bicycle in Bowie—even once—take a few minutes to share your experience. Your feedback could help shape the future of bicycling in Bowie.

September 8 is the deadline to complete the survey.

Bowie Is Investing $16,000 in the Arts—Could Your Idea Be One of Them?

Bowie’s creative community is getting another opportunity to bring great ideas to life! The City of Bowie Arts Committee is offering $16,000 in reimbursable grant funding for the 2026–2027 cycle to support arts programs that engage and benefit Bowie residents.

Individuals, groups, and organizations can apply for funding for activities ranging from dance, music, pottery, painting, beading, and acting classes to plays, spoken-word events, public art installations, and youth arts programs during school breaks.

Why does this matter? A thriving arts scene does more than entertain. The arts bring neighbors together, give young people creative outlets, showcase local talent, celebrate Bowie’s diversity, and make our community a more vibrant place to live. Public performances and creative programs can also encourage residents to explore different parts of the city and connect with people they might not otherwise meet.

Have a creative idea that could benefit Bowie? This could be your opportunity to make it happen!

The question of the week was:

How do you feel about the pace of development in Bowie?

By unanimous vote most Bowie residents believe that development in Bowie is too fast.
