Quote of the Day
“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.” ~ Brene Brown

Save Thousands on Solar with Bowie's Switch Together Program

Thinking about going solar? Bowie residents can save an average of more than $6,300 through Switch Together, a group-buying program offered by the City of Bowie and nonprofit Solar United Neighbors.
The free, no-obligation program connects homeowners with carefully vetted solar installers offering discounted pricing on high-quality solar systems. Residents can also save on optional home battery storage and electric vehicle chargers.
Not sure where to start? Switch Together offers free webinars and in-person workshops to help you understand the process and decide if solar is right for your home.
Registration is free, and you're under no obligation to purchase after receiving an offer.
BowiePulse™: We heard everyone who responded. Thank you!
Last week we introduced BowiePulse™ - We ask one meaningful question about life here in Bowie. Sometimes it'll be fun. Sometimes it'll be serious. But it will always reflect what matters most to the people who live here.
The question of the week was - How would you rate bowie as a place to live today?
Bowie received a grade of B last week and had lots of great feedback, including:
Bowie is quiet and clean, and a really good area to raise a family.
I enjoy living here, overall.
Bowie has become congested especially on 301, not looking for big city traffic.
I love Bowie, and think a few small things would help it be even better…(great suggestions)
Way too much development without improvement of the infrastructure. Love the city parks…

Think It Won't Happen to You? Here's How Hackers Are Taking Over Social Media Accounts
Social media helps us stay connected, but it also makes us a target for cybercriminals. A hacked account can lead to identity theft, financial scams, damaged relationships, and the loss of personal photos and memories. Fortunately, a few simple security habits can greatly reduce your risk.
What Happens When Your Account Is Hacked?
Hackers often change your password and recovery information, locking you out of your account. They may send scam messages to your friends, post fraudulent content, steal private information, or use your account to gain access to other accounts that share the same password.
Signs Your Account Has Been Hacked
Watch for these warning signs:
You can't log in with your password.
You receive password reset emails you didn't request.
Friends report receiving strange messages from you.
Posts or comments appear that you didn't create.
Your profile information changes without your permission.
You notice logins from unfamiliar devices or locations.
Top 5 Ways to Protect Your Account
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). It adds an extra layer of security beyond your password.
Use strong, unique passwords for every account.
Avoid suspicious links and messages, even if they appear to come from someone you know.
Review your account security settings and remove unfamiliar devices or connected apps.
Keep your phone and computer updated with the latest security patches.
By the Numbers
Cybercrime continues to grow. An estimated 429 million social media accounts were compromised in 2025, contributing to billions of dollars in losses. In addition, consumers reported $1.9 billion in losses from scams that began on social media in 2024, highlighting the importance of protecting your online accounts.
If You're Hacked
Act quickly by changing your password, enabling MFA, logging out of all devices, notifying your contacts, and reporting the incident to the social media platform.
Bottom Line: Your social media account is part of your digital identity. Taking a few minutes to strengthen your security today can help prevent major headaches tomorrow.
