Bowie Recognized Among Maryland’s Best Places to Live in 2026

Bowie has earned a spot on the list of the 10 Best Places to Live in Maryland for 2026, standing out for its strong balance of affordability, job access, healthcare, and everyday convenience.

According to the report, communities across Maryland were selected not just for their natural beauty—from the Chesapeake Bay to the Atlantic coast—but for how well they support daily life. Bowie made the list for offering residents a practical and well-rounded lifestyle, with access to employment opportunities, essential services, and a comfortable suburban environment.

While places like Berlin were noted for their small-town charm and proximity to outdoor attractions, and Baltimore for its economic opportunities and cultural energy, Bowie was recognized for delivering a steady, reliable quality of life.

Together with other top-ranked locations, Bowie represents one of the many ways Maryland continues to be an attractive place to live in 2026.

Following the resignation of Mayor Timothy J. Adams on February 2, 2026, the City of Bowie will hold a Special Election on April 7, 2026 to fill the vacancy. The Mayor Pro Tem is serving as Acting Mayor until the election results are finalized.

Candidate filing closed on March 6, 2026, which is also the deadline that passed for voter registration. Only residents living within Bowie city limits are eligible to vote, and those already registered with a Bowie address through the Prince George’s County Board of Elections are automatically eligible.

Check your address to make sure you live inside Bowie’s municipal boundaries.
