The City of Bowie’s Annual Beautification Awards Program celebrates residents who enhance the community through outstanding gardens and outdoor spaces. These efforts reflect creativity, skill, and dedication, helping make Bowie a more beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. Nominations for the 2026 awards are now open, with a deadline of March 27 at 5:00pm.

2026 High Bridge Foundation Scholarship Program

High Bridge Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 by Ernest and Mencie Hairston to support underserved youth. Led by a Board of Directors, the foundation focuses on empowering young people—including immigrants, adoptees, and those with financial or physical challenges—through programs like tutoring, health education, college preparation, scholarships, career development, and job placement, helping them reach their full potential.

The 2026 High Bridge Foundation Scholarship Program offers financial support to graduating high school seniors in the Greater Washington, D.C. area who have overcome personal or family hardships. Awards include two $4,000 Impact Awards, five $2,000 scholarships, and seven $1,000 book awards, helping students pursue education at trade schools, community colleges, or universities.
