Bowie’s Next Move: New Trail Could Connect More Than You Think

The City of Bowie is inviting residents to a public meeting on Wednesday, April 1 at 6:30pm to discuss a proposed walking and biking path connecting Pin Oak Parkway to Mount Oak Road. The meeting will be held at the Kenhill Center (2614 Kenhill Dr.) in the Multi-Purpose Room.

This project is designed to close a key “missing link” in the Bowie Byway, creating a smoother north-south connection for pedestrians and cyclists between Pin Oak Parkway, Mount Oak Park, and nearby destinations like Allen Pond Park.

Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the plan, and share their input as the city works to improve local connectivity and accessibility.

Special Election Set for April 7 in Bowie

Following the resignation of Mayor Timothy J. Adams on February 2, 2026, the City of Bowie will hold a Special Election on April 7, 2026 to fill the vacancy.

In the meantime, the Mayor Pro Tem is serving as Acting Mayor until the election results are finalized and certified.

Residents can view the official list of candidates running in the Special Election to learn more about who is seeking to lead the city.

Who Can Vote?

Only residents who live within Bowie’s municipal limits are eligible to vote in city elections.

If you’re already registered with the Prince George’s County Board of Elections using a Bowie address, you’re automatically registered to vote in this election.

Not sure if you’re eligible? Residents are encouraged to check their address to confirm they fall within city limits.

Why This Matters

This election will determine Bowie’s next mayor—making it an important moment for residents to have a say in the city’s leadership and future direction.
