America Has Spoken! The Most Festive Christmas Dishes Across the Nation — With Maryland, D.C. & Virginia Leading the Flavor

Christmas dinner tables across America are glowing with tradition, and this year’s list of the most popular holiday dishes proves just how deliciously unique each state can be. From coast to coast, families are celebrating the season with flavors that warm the heart—and Maryland, D.C., and Virginia bring extra holiday cheer to the menu.

In Maryland, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without crab cakes, a proud Chesapeake classic that adds a golden, savory sparkle to the holiday feast. In Washington, D.C., the top pick is gingerbread cookies, filling homes and markets with the sweet, spicy aroma of pure Christmas magic. And Virginia keeps the tradition heartfelt and homey with its beloved country ham, often baked to perfection or served on soft, buttery biscuits.

These festive favorites remind us that holiday joy comes in many flavors—and every state celebrates with something wonderfully its own.
