Bowie’s Halloween Hotspots: Fun Events & Safety Tips for Families

As Halloween approaches in Bowie, Maryland, it’s the perfect time for families to gear up for a safe and spooky evening. The City of Bowie Police Department reminds everyone to wear bright or reflective costumes, ensure masks don’t obstruct vision, and carry a flashlight when trick-or-treating.

Every October, Bowie’s neighborhoods light up with costumes, laughter, and—of course—candy debates! So which treat reigns supreme among Bowie residents? According to local chatter, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups just may take the crown, loved for their perfect mix of chocolate and peanut butter. Or could it be Snickers? For the fruity flavors, Skittles Sour Patch Kids are on the list.

It’s been said that parents secretly admit to “inspecting” (aka sampling) a few pieces before the night ends! Whether you’re trading candy at the kitchen table or sneaking an extra piece after the porch lights go out, Bowie’s sweet spirit shines bright. As one of the closest jurisdictions to Washington, D.C., Prince George’s County is home to thousands of federal employees and contractors. In light of the current challenges facing the federal government, County officials are reaffirming their commitment to supporting local residents impacted by any disruptions.

Leadership in the County recognizes the critical role federal workers play in the region and is focused on maintaining residents' quality of life during this uncertain time. Efforts are underway to coordinate closely with state and federal partners to provide timely resources, services, and updates.
