What’s Next for Freeway Airport? Join the Discussion
Public hearings are scheduled to discuss the proposed residential redevelopment of the Freeway Airport site on Church Road. While the property lies outside Bowie’s incorporated City limits, developers are seeking support from the Bowie Advisory Planning Board (BAPB) as part of the review process. The proposal for the site is for 297 lots and 15 parcels for single-family detached residential development.
These hearings are a key opportunity for residents to ask questions, share opinions, and help shape the future of the area. Your voice matters, and community input is essential in guiding responsible growth and development.
Two public meetings will be held to present the project and hear feedback. Details about time and location are provided in the official notice.
Whether you live near the site or care about how Bowie grows, your participation is encouraged. Help ensure that any redevelopment aligns with community values and priorities.
Help Keep Bowie Safe – Join the Bowie Police Drug Take Back Day

This Saturday, October 25th, the Bowie Police Department will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, offering residents a safe, convenient way to dispose of unwanted or expired medications. This national event, organized by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), helps prevent prescription drug misuse and protects our community and environment.
Improper disposal—like tossing pills in the trash or flushing them—can lead to accidental poisoning, drug misuse, and environmental harm. Take Back Day provides a secure, anonymous way to clear out your medicine cabinet and make a positive impact.
Simply bring your medications to the Bowie Police Department—no questions asked. Please note: aerosols and needles cannot be accepted.
Here are five key benefits of participating in Bowie’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day:
Prevents Misuse – Safely disposing of unused medications helps reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse and accidental overdose.
Protects Children & Pets – Removing expired or unneeded drugs from your home lowers the risk of accidental ingestion.
Supports Public Safety – Proper disposal keeps medications out of the wrong hands and helps prevent drug-related crime.
Protects the Environment – Take Back Day ensures medications aren’t flushed or trashed, protecting local water supplies and wildlife.
Easy & Anonymous – It’s a quick, no-questions-asked way to responsibly clean out your medicine cabinet.
Participating in Drug Take Back Day is a simple but powerful step in promoting safety and wellness in Bowie. Join your neighbors in keeping our community healthy and drug-free—one prescription at a time.
