Quote of the Day

“We all have battles to fight. And it’s often in those battles that we are most alive: it’s on the frontlines of our lives that we earn wisdom, create joy, forge friendships, discover happiness, find love, and do purposeful work.” ~ Eric Greitens, Resilience

Maryland New Speed Camera Fines Increases Now in Effect

As of October 1, 2025, Maryland’s speed‑camera fines are no longer a flat $40 — instead, they’re tiered based on how fast you’re driving over the limit.

12‑15 mph over: $40

16‑19 mph over: $70

20‑29 mph over: $120

30‑39 mph over: $230

40 mph or more over: $425

Violations caught by cameras remain civil penalties, so they don’t carry points on your driver’s license.

This shift—from a flat fine to a graduated scale—is meant to better match penalties to severity, with the stated goal of reducing dangerous speeding.

County and State - Federal Government Shutdown Resources

As one of the closest jurisdictions to Washington, D.C., Prince George’s County is home to thousands of federal employees and contractors. In light of the current challenges facing the federal government, County officials are reaffirming their commitment to supporting local residents impacted by any disruptions.

Leadership in the County recognizes the critical role federal workers play in the region and is focused on maintaining residents' quality of life during this uncertain time. Efforts are underway to coordinate closely with state and federal partners to provide timely resources, services, and updates.

With a unified approach, Prince George’s County is working to ensure that families have the support they need, standing together as “One County United.”

Save the Date: Boo-wie Fest at Belair Stable and Belair Bath & Tennis Club

Belair Stable is kicking off the Halloween season with a festive afternoon of family fun on Saturday, October 25, from 12 to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited to enjoy a variety of seasonal activities, including trick-or-treating, fall-themed crafts, and hands-on pumpkin decorating.

Costumes are encouraged, and children should bring a bag to collect their treats throughout the event. From 12 to 2 p.m., Belair Bath and Tennis Club will host its popular Trunk-or-Treat, where families can stroll through a parking lot full of creatively decorated car trunks, each offering goodies and surprises.

The celebration includes interactive stations like Spider Hollow and the Monster Bash—designed for brave little visitors—and a festive photo area perfect for capturing fall memories. Guests can also look forward to face painting and a visit from the AZTK food truck offering tasty bites.

Admission is free and open to all, with no registration required. Free parking will be available for added convenience.
