Catch the Replay of the Bowie Annual Action Plan Public Hearing #1

The Bowie Annual Action Plan Public Hearing #1 is a community meeting where residents can share input on how the city should use federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds support local projects related to affordable housing, public services, community development, and neighborhood improvements. The hearing marks the start of the planning process for the upcoming fiscal year, giving the public a chance to influence priorities and funding decisions.

The installation of the new Bowie sign looks to be coming along nicely. The new city entrance sign is a modern design with upgraded lighting. The project includes replacing the surrounding worn grass with fresh sod and landscaping, creating a cleaner, more inviting gateway to the city.

Renovations Begin at Prince George’s Stadium with $50M Groundbreaking Event

The Chesapeake Baysox, in collaboration with The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA), broke ground Thursday, March 27, on a major renovation project at Prince George’s Stadium. The $50 million initiative, first announced in January, marks a significant investment in the facility’s future.

The event drew notable attendees, including Orioles owner Cal Ripken and state and local officials, to celebrate the stadium’s upcoming transformation. Central to the project is a cutting-edge performance center featuring upgraded batting areas, aimed at enhancing player development while also exploring broader community use.

Other planned upgrades include high-definition videoboards set to debut for the 2025 season, promising an improved fan experience. With Gilbane and EwingCole leading the design-build team, and support from The Canopy Team, the project is poised to strengthen the Baysox’s home as a hub for sports, entertainment, and community engagement in Prince George’s County.
