Recycling Electronics: The Hidden Cost of E-Waste
In an age where technology evolves faster than ever, old phones, laptops, and gadgets pile up—often tossed in drawers or, worse, the trash. But electronic waste, or e-waste, contains hazardous materials like lead and mercury that can leach into soil and water. Recycling electronics isn’t just about decluttering; it’s about protecting the environment and recovering valuable materials like gold, silver, and copper. Many retailers and community programs offer e-waste recycling services, ensuring these devices are safely processed. By responsibly disposing of outdated electronics, we reduce pollution, conserve resources, and prevent toxic waste from harming our planet. Before you throw away that old smartphone, consider donating or recycling it—small actions can make a big impact on our future.

Prince George’s County Executive Candidates
One of the central topics was crime and public safety. Candidates discussed strategies to reduce violence, strengthen community policing, and invest in youth programs to prevent crime before it starts. Some emphasized the need for better collaboration between law enforcement and residents, while others proposed policy changes to ensure a more effective approach to public safety.
Economic growth was another major theme, with candidates outlining their plans to attract businesses, create jobs, and support local entrepreneurs. Some highlighted the importance of developing underutilized areas of the county, while others stressed the need for workforce training programs to prepare residents for higher-paying careers.
Education also took center stage, as candidates debated ways to improve local schools, increase funding, and address disparities in educational opportunities. Several contenders spoke about expanding access to resources for students and teachers, while others focused on accountability within the school system to ensure better outcomes for students.
The forum allowed voters to compare the candidates’ leadership styles and priorities ahead of the upcoming election. As the race continues, residents will have more opportunities to hear from those looking to shape the future of Prince George’s County.
