❄️ Winter Weather Warning: Hazardous Conditions Expected in Bowie

A significant winter storm is approaching Bowie, Maryland, bringing potential ice accumulations that could disrupt travel and cause power outages. The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for the area until 10 AM Thursday.

Residents should prepare for mixed precipitation, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch. These conditions are expected to create slippery roadways, particularly during the Thursday morning commute. It's advisable to avoid unnecessary travel during this period. Following the storm, temperatures are forecasted to remain cool, with highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-20s over the next few days. Stay updated with local weather advisories and exercise caution when venturing outdoors.

🎤 Showcase Your Talent at the National Anthem & Voice of Bowie Auditions!

Bowie’s most talented voices have a chance to shine! The City of Bowie is hosting its annual auditions for individuals and groups eager to perform at beloved local events, including the Memorial Day Parade, Bowiefest, and the Bowie International Festival.

Singers will need to deliver a powerful a cappella rendition of the National Anthem, plus a song of their choice, in front of a judging panel. Those vying for the title of "Voice of Bowie" will also showcase their skills by reading from a prepared script.

Selected performers will have the exciting opportunity to entertain the community at these highly anticipated events. Plus, they’ll be asked to remain available for any scheduled rain dates.

Mark your calendar—the auditions take place on February 22, 2025! If you’ve got the voice and the passion, this is your chance to step into the spotlight.
