Quote of the Day
“Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!” — Anne Frank

Celebrating Dr. King’s Legacy Through Art, Keeping the Dream Alive – Watch the Replay!
The City of Bowie’s Martin Luther King Jr. Art Contest Award Ceremony was a powerful celebration of creativity, courage, and the enduring legacy of Dr. King. If you missed the live event, you can still catch the replay and be inspired by the incredible artwork and performances honoring his dream of justice, unity, and equality.
Each piece tells a story—a vision of hope painted, drawn, or sculpted by the talented young artists of Bowie. Their work is a reminder that Dr. King’s message still resonates today, urging us all to stand for love, peace, and progress.
Take a moment to witness the creativity and passion of our community’s youth. Their art is more than an expression—it’s a call to action.
Be part of the conversation about Old Bowie’s transformation
Big changes are coming to Old Bowie, and your voice matters! The upcoming revitalization project aims to preserve the town’s charm while introducing new opportunities for businesses, public spaces, and the local community. Share your thoughts, ideas, and concerns at upcoming meetings. This is your chance to help shape the future—don’t miss it!
Speed Cameras Rotating to New Locations – Keeping Bowie Streets Safe
Starting February 3, the Bowie Police Department will relocate some of the City’s speed cameras as part of the ongoing Safe Speed Camera Program. This initiative is designed to reduce speeding, enhance pedestrian safety, and prevent accidents in high-risk areas.
Speed cameras serve as a powerful deterrent, encouraging drivers to stay within safe limits—especially near schools, parks, and residential neighborhoods. Studies show that communities with speed camera programs experience fewer traffic-related injuries and safer roads for everyone.
The relocation ensures coverage in areas where speeding remains a concern, reinforcing the City’s commitment to public safety. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert, drive responsibly, and respect posted speed limits. Safer streets start with us—let’s all do our part!
Prince George’s Stadium to Undergo $50 Million Renovation, Enhancing Fan Experience
Prince George’s Stadium s set for a major transformation, with a $50 million renovation backed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA), and Attain Sports, owner of the Chesapeake Baysox.
Originally opened in 1994, the stadium has been a staple for professional baseball and family entertainment in Prince George’s County. The upcoming upgrades align with a broader state initiative to enhance minor league facilities, ensuring compliance with Major League Baseball’s Player Development League standards.
The renovation project, managed by Gilbane with design partner EwingCole, will begin in early 2025 and continue through 2026. Despite construction, the Chesapeake Baysox’s season will proceed as planned. Additionally, two new high-definition videoboards will be installed for the 2025 season, enhancing the fan experience.
Attain Sports, which acquired the team in 2021, holds a lease on the stadium through 2032, with options extending to 2042. The upgrades aim to modernize the venue while preserving its role as a community gathering space for sports and entertainment.

Cornerstone Church’s Grocery Giveaway: Feeding Hope, One Bag at a Time
In a world that often moves too fast, Cornerstone Church is slowing down to make a difference—one grocery bag at a time. Volunteers gather with open hearts and outstretched hands to distribute fresh produce, pantry staples, and warm smiles to families in need.
The grocery giveaway isn’t just about food; it’s about community, dignity, and the unwavering belief that no one should go hungry. Whether it’s a single mom trying to make ends meet or a senior on a fixed income, everyone is welcomed with kindness.
At Cornerstone, generosity isn’t just a practice—it’s a way of life. As long as there’s a need, they’ll be there, proving that even the simplest act of giving can change lives.
Bowie Police Take the Plunge for a Cause
Braving the icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay, A/Lt. Howard and members of the Bowie Police Department are diving in for this year’s Polar Bear Plunge! On Friday, January 31, 2025, at 9:00 AM, these officers will join thousands at Sandy Point State Park to support Special Olympics Maryland.
The annual event, known for its freezing temperatures and warm-hearted participants, raises funds to provide year-round sports and support for athletes with intellectual disabilities. With every shivering step into the water, Bowie’s finest are making a difference.
Come cheer them on, donate, or—if you’re brave enough—join the plunge yourself! Together, we can turn the cold into a powerful force for inclusion and community spirit.
