Calling All Talent: Bowie Announces 2025 Audition Date for City Events 🎤

Warm up your vocal cords! The City of Bowie is calling for talented individuals and groups to audition for a chance to perform at some of its most prominent events, including the Memorial Day Parade, Bowiefest, and the Bowie International Festival. This annual opportunity showcases local talent and adds a special touch to the city’s celebrations.

Participants vying for a spot to sing the National Anthem must prepare to perform it a cappella in addition to a second song of their choice before a panel of judges. Meanwhile, candidates for the "Voice of Bowie" title will be required to read from a provided script during their audition.

Selected performers will be expected to participate on the main event day and remain available for any scheduled rain dates.

Auditions are set to take place on February 22, 2025.

Senior Center’s Noon Year’s Party: Fun, Festivities, and Friends

Ring in 2025 a little early at Bowie’s Senior Center "Noon" Year's Party on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. This lively celebration is tailored for Senior Center patrons, offering a fun and festive way to mark the year’s end without staying up late.

Attendees can enjoy music from DJ C-Well, complete with noisemakers to enhance the party atmosphere. Light refreshments will be served, making it the perfect opportunity to mingle and celebrate with friends. Guests are encouraged to dress in their party best or come as they are for this joyous occasion.

The event requires preregistration, with fees set at $5 for residents and $6 for nonresidents. Don’t miss this chance to kick off the New Year in style!

Spike in Auto Thefts: Protect Your Vehicle from Thieves

Bowie is experiencing an uptick in thefts from vehicles, according to recent reports from local authorities. These incidents, often occurring in driveways and parking lots, highlight the importance of taking preventative measures to safeguard personal property.

Police note that many thefts involve unlocked cars or valuables left in plain sight, making them easy targets for opportunistic criminals. To reduce the risk, residents are urged to lock their vehicles, even when parked at home, and to remove items such as purses, electronics, and loose change from view.

Parking in well-lit areas or investing in motion-sensor lights can also deter thieves. Additionally, consider installing a vehicle alarm system or security cameras to add an extra layer of protection.

By staying alert and proactive, Bowie residents can work together to reduce these thefts and keep their community safe. To report a crime, call 911 or the non-emergency number, 240-544-5700.
