MC Lyte Inspires Bowie State Graduates with Powerful Commencement Speech

On December 19th, pioneering hip-hop artist, actress, and entrepreneur MC Lyte delivered the keynote address at Bowie State University's Winter Commencement ceremony. The event celebrated the achievements of the graduating class. MC Lyte, renowned for her groundbreaking contributions to music and entertainment, shared insights from her extensive career, which includes being the first female rapper nominated for a Grammy and the first to earn a gold single. Beyond her artistic endeavors, she is the CEO of Sunni Gyrl, Inc., and through her nonprofit, the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation, has awarded over $1 million in scholarships, underscoring her commitment to education and community empowerment. Her presence and words inspired graduates to pursue excellence and effect positive change in their communities.
