Dealing with Potholes in Bowie? Here's How to Report and Fix Them

Potholes can make driving frustrating and unsafe, especially when they start popping up on frequently traveled roads. In Bowie, Maryland, the city makes it easy for residents to report and request repairs for these road issues through the City of Bowie “Request a Service / Ask a Question” system.

If you notice a pothole on your street or during your commute, you can take action right away. On the Request a Service / Ask a Question page, you’ll be prompted to provide details about the pothole’s location, such as the nearest intersection or address. You can also include photos to help city workers identify the problem quickly.

Once your request is submitted, the City’s Department of Public Works will assess the damage and schedule the necessary repairs.

Bowie State Secures $400,000 Grant to Boost AI Education and Research

Bowie State University has been awarded a $400,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) education and promote inclusivity for underrepresented groups.

Led by business professor Rand Obeidat, the initiative will upgrade the university’s hardware and software infrastructure to integrate advanced AI tools across multiple disciplines, including computer science, biology, education, and criminal justice.

“This project supports our mission of academic excellence and student success,” said Obeidat. “By enhancing AI training, research opportunities, and curriculum design, we’re empowering students to excel in a technology-driven world.”

The grant provides access to cutting-edge tools like generative AI and large language models (LLMs), hands-on learning experiences, and mentorship opportunities. Faculty and students will collaborate on research and gain practical AI skills, positioning Bowie State as a leader in AI-driven education.

“This investment ensures our students are prepared for future careers in a rapidly evolving industry,” added Obeidat.
