Maryland Ranked No. 1 State for Minority-Owned Businesses

Maryland has earned the prestigious title of the No. 1 state for minority-owned businesses, according to a recent analysis by LendingTree. This recognition highlights the state’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and commitment to fostering diversity in business.
The analysis evaluated factors such as the percentage of businesses owned by minorities, revenue generated, and access to funding opportunities. Maryland stood out with an impressive 32.6% of its businesses being minority-owned—well above the national average. The state’s strategic location, strong infrastructure, and supportive programs have created fertile ground for diverse businesses to flourish.
In cities like Bowie, this achievement is reflected in vibrant small businesses that drive the local economy.
Governor Wes Moore celebrated the news, saying, "Maryland is setting the standard for what inclusive economic growth looks like. By investing in our small businesses and empowering minority entrepreneurs, we are building a stronger, more equitable future for everyone in our state."
From Bowie to Baltimore, minority-owned businesses are driving innovation and economic growth, solidifying Maryland’s position as a leader in equity and opportunity.
Spread Holiday Cheer for a Child: Support the Bowie Toys For Tots

This holiday season, let’s come together as a community to support a cause that brings joy to children and families in need — Toys for Tots. For decades, this incredible program has been ensuring no child wakes up without a gift during the holidays. Right here in Bowie, we have the chance to make a difference.
Your contributions—whether toys or donations—can light up a child’s face and spark a sense of belonging in our community. Drop-off locations around Bowie are ready to receive new, unwrapped toys, and every donation stays local, helping families in our area.
Together, we can make Bowie brighter. Let’s show what the spirit of giving truly means by making this year’s Toys for Tots campaign a success! Every act of kindness matters. Join other Bowie residents in donating a new and unwrapped toy to give children this Christmas.

Looking to add some joy and fluff to your life? Adopting a kitten might be just the ticket! These tiny bundles of energy are masters at turning mundane moments into delightful adventures. Kittens are curious explorers who will investigate every corner of your home, often with hilarious results.
They’re also great stress relievers—petting a purring kitten has been shown to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Plus, caring for a kitten teaches responsibility and builds a strong bond. Your new feline friend will quickly become your cuddle buddy, nap partner, and constant source of laughter.
