"It would be a great disappointment for you to give up on yourself before the appointed time to reap the fruit of your labor." — Edmond Mbiaka

Gather, Reflect, and Give Thanks

Thanksgiving is more than just a meal—it’s a moment to reflect on life’s blessings and to connect with family, friends, and community. As the holiday approaches, it invites us to pause, take stock of the past year, and express gratitude for the people and experiences that have enriched our lives.
For many, it’s a day filled with traditions: gathering around the table, sharing favorite family recipes, and creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. Thanksgiving also reminds us of the power of generosity, encouraging us to extend kindness and support to others, especially those in need.
Whether you’re celebrating with loved ones nearby or connecting from afar, let this Thanksgiving be a time of warmth, appreciation, and hope for the future. Together, let’s embrace the holiday’s spirit of gratitude and community, spreading joy to those around us.

Bowie City Council Pushes Back on New Development at Mt. Oak & Church Rd
At the November 4th Regular Meeting, the Bowie City Council took a firm stance against a proposed development project at the corner of Mt. Oak Road and Church Road, citing concerns about community impact, environmental preservation, and increased traffic congestion. The project, which includes plans for residential and commercial spaces, has raised questions from local residents and council members about its alignment with Bowie's long-term planning goals and the strain it could place on existing infrastructure.
City Council members have voiced that the area’s current traffic patterns and infrastructure may struggle to accommodate the influx expected from new development. Additionally, local environmental advocates have highlighted concerns about preserving green spaces and minimizing ecological disruption. Discussions with the project’s developers are ongoing, as the council explores options to address these concerns.

Bring Holiday Joy: Support Bowie’s ‘Shop with a Cop’ Program

This holiday season, the Bowie Police Department is bringing festive joy to the community with its beloved “Shop with a Cop” program. Each year, this event brightens the lives of local families in need, and this year, 80 children from Bowie will share a memorable day with Bowie officers, enjoying music, delicious food, and the excitement of holiday shopping. It’s a day that these young community members will cherish for years to come.
You can help make this experience magical by contributing to the program. Every donation directly supports creating heartwarming memories, allowing children to pick out special gifts and making the holiday season a little brighter for families in need. Cash and check donations are welcome and can be sent by December 14 to:
Bowie Police Department 15901 Fred Robinson Way Bowie, MD 20716
Checks should be made payable to “Bowie Police Department.”
