Quote of the Day
"As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time." — Denis Waitley

Show Your Holiday Spirit in Bowie’s Annual Decorating Contest
The City of Bowie’s Holiday House Decorating Contest invites residents to show off their holiday creativity and community spirit. To enter, submit an application by Monday, December 6, 2024, at 5 p.m. Judging will take place on December 11 from 6 to 11 p.m., with displays scored on creativity, appearance, and effort across three categories: Traditional (classic holiday lights and Santa scenes), Religious (all denominations welcome), and Colonial (featuring candles, greenery, and white lights).
Top awards include the Pirmohamed Family Award for family-friendly displays, and the Mateik-Pitts Family Award for first-time entrants, each offering a $100 prize. Winners of the Best of Bowie and Bowie Spirit Awards will also receive special seasonal honors.
Bowie’s Annual Curbside Leaf Collection Program Begins November 4

The City of Bowie's Annual Curbside Vacuum Leaf Collection Program kicks off on November 4, 2024, offering residents a convenient way to handle fall leaf cleanup. Homeowners should ensure leaves are raked to the curb by Monday at 7 a.m. during their designated collection weeks. Rather than assigning specific pickup days, the city’s schedule is organized by week, with each collection week beginning on Monday.
Residents can check daily updates to monitor collection progress in their neighborhoods. However, once crews complete pickups on a given street, they will not return until the next scheduled collection week, so timeliness in raking leaves to the curb is essential.

Your voice matters! On Tuesday, November 5, make it count by casting your vote. This Election Day is a chance for you to help shape your community and ensure your beliefs and values are represented in government. Whether it’s local leadership, state issues, or key initiatives on the ballot, each vote contributes to the future you want to see.
If you haven’t registered yet, don’t worry—Maryland offers same-day voter registration. Simply head to your polling place, bring the required ID, and register right there before voting. This makes it easier than ever to participate and let your voice be heard.
Every vote adds to the community’s shared vision, so take part and make November 5 a day of action, unity, and impact.
Please note that the Bowie City Gym is NOT a polling location on Election Day.
