Embrace the Extra Hour: Tips for Adjusting to the End of Daylight Saving Time

As daylight saving time ends, clocks will "fall back" one hour, giving us an extra hour but also shifting our routines. For many, this shift can disrupt sleep patterns, mood, and daily rhythms, but a few strategies can help ease the adjustment.

Start by gradually adjusting your bedtime in the days leading up to the change. Going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night helps your body clock adapt more naturally. In the morning, get some sunlight soon after waking—sunlight exposure in the early hours helps your internal clock reset and can boost alertness.

Maintaining a consistent schedule is also key. Try to stick to regular meal times and avoid naps longer than 20 minutes during the day to stay in sync. Finally, use the earlier evenings to wind down—lower lighting at night can support melatonin production, encouraging a restful night’s sleep and a smoother transition to shorter days.

In an era where identity theft is a constant threat, shredding important papers is an essential step in safeguarding personal information. Many of us accumulate documents that contain sensitive information—bank statements, medical records, tax documents, and even junk mail. Tossing these items in the trash leaves personal details vulnerable to anyone willing to dig through.

Shredding these documents not only keeps prying eyes from sensitive data but also provides peace of mind. It’s a simple act that prevents thieves from piecing together your information for fraudulent use. Regularly shredding unneeded paperwork ensures that your personal and financial details remain private, reducing the risk of identity theft or financial harm.

Some businesses even offer community shredding events, making it easy and eco-friendly to discard documents safely. By making shredding part of your routine, you’re taking an active role in protecting yourself and your family from the growing risk of data theft.
