Boo-E-Ween: Trunk or Treat Today

Get ready for a spooky good time at Bowie’s annual Trunk-or-Treat event! On October 30, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, families can enjoy a fun, safe Halloween experience at the Bowie Town Center, rear parking lot behind Overdue Recognition Gallery. At this community gathering, cars decorated in creative Halloween themes line up with trunks filled with treats, so kids can go trick-or-treating from car to car. From ghostly decorations to friendly witches and superheroes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy—and lots of candy to collect!
This event is perfect for families looking for an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating, with music, costumes, and plenty of festive fun. Children are encouraged to come in costume and bring a bag for goodies. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome to join in the spooky fun. Don’t miss out on Bowie’s most “trunk-tacular” Halloween event!

Stormwater in Bowie: What It Is and How You Can Help Keep It Clean
Stormwater, or runoff from rain and snowmelt, flows over hard surfaces like roads and buildings, where it can't be absorbed into the ground. In Bowie, stormwater flows directly into local streams, the Patuxent River, and eventually the Chesapeake Bay, often carrying pollutants like sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorus. These pollutants contribute to environmental degradation, impacting water quality and local ecosystems. In Bowie, additional pollutants like E. coli and low oxygen further threaten water health. Residents can help by reporting issues, such as oil or unusual substances, in streams or storm drains to the city’s Public Works Department. The city has been actively working on stormwater management projects since 2017 to help reduce pollution. For more on local water health, resources are available through Maryland’s Department of the Environment and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
