Protect Your Pets: Rabies Vaccination & Microchip Clinic in Bowie on Nov. 9th

The City of Bowie will host a Rabies Shot & Microchipping Clinic which is free for first 100 pets on November 9, 2024 starting at 10:00am. This event provides essential rabies vaccinations and pet microchipping services to ensure community health and pet safety. Rabies shots are crucial in preventing the spread of this fatal disease to pets and humans alike, as Maryland law mandates rabies vaccinations for cats, dogs, and ferrets over four months of age.

Microchipping is equally important, as it significantly improves the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners. Pet owners in Bowie are encouraged to take advantage of this affordable clinic to protect their pets and support public health.

Prince George’s County Voters to Decide Key School Board Seats

Nine candidates are competing for five seats on the Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Board of Education, with the election on November 5. The seats open for contention include Districts 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8. This election follows District 1 board member David Murray’s July resignation, which has increased focus on the races.

In District 1, Tiffini Andorful and Donna Barriteau focus on community engagement and teacher support. Shayla Adams-Stafford runs unopposed in District 4, emphasizing educational equity and funding for underserved schools. In District 5, Robin Brown and Zipporah Miller bring perspectives on family support and mental wellness, respectively. District 7’s Dr. Kenneth Harris and Dr. Phelton Moss propose advancing school resources and literacy initiatives. Finally, in District 8, Angela Jones and Zakyia Goins-McCants are concentrating on literacy, safety, and equity for underserved students. Each candidate seeks to improve the county’s educational outcomes and strengthen community involvement.
