Bowie’s Annual Leaf Collection Begins November 4th

The City of Bowie will begin its annual leaf collection service on November 4th. Residents can expect crews to visit each neighborhood multiple times throughout the collection period, which runs until mid-December. The city encourages residents to rake leaves to the curb but advises against placing them in streets or gutters, as it could obstruct stormwater drainage. Residents can also bag leaves in paper bags for curbside pickup on regular trash collection days.

First Restaurant Announced for $1.3B South Lake Development: Ma Pearl’s

Ma Pearl’s, the first announced restaurant tenant at the $1.3 billion South Lake Marketplace in Bowie, is set to bring a new dining concept to the 600,000-square-foot retail hub. The restaurant, created by renowned restaurateur Dr. Lance London, will feature Creole, Cajun, and Southern-inspired dishes, honoring the culinary legacy of his grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Pierce, also known as Ma Pearl.

In addition to dine-in service, Ma Pearl’s will offer an “express take-home” option with ready-to-go meals displayed for quick selection. The restaurant will also host a weekly live Mardi Gras celebration every Thursday night, set in a stunning bar that promises to be one of the most impressive on the East Coast.

Next to Ma Pearl’s, London will open L. London Fine Wines & Spirits, a high-end liquor store that allows guests to handpick wine pairings to enjoy on-site or to take home.

The South Lake development, located at the intersection of Route 301 and Route 214, is transforming the area with its mix of retail, dining, entertainment, and residential offerings. London described South Lake as a "game-changer" for Prince George’s County, offering upscale amenities to a region that has long lacked such options. In addition to Ma Pearl’s, London operates The Carolina Kitchen restaurants in Maryland and Washington, D.C.
