The Lost Blues Brother’s Bird in Bowie

Nestled in Old Town Bowie’s In Town Green Park is a quirky resident—a bright blue bird sculpture named "Lost Blues Brother Bird." This eye-catching artwork was part of a larger project by the Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission, where local artists transformed bird sculptures into colorful masterpieces displayed in parks across Prince George’s County. When the exhibit wrapped up, Bowie decided to keep a piece of the fun by purchasing one of these unique creations. Now, "Lost Blues Brother Bird" has found a forever home in Old Town, where it brings a splash of color and charm to the park. Next time you visit, be sure to snap a photo with this feathered friend—he’s always happy to strike a pose!

Bowie’s Big Plans to Slash Emissions

In 2020, the City of Bowie adopted its Climate Action Plan (CAP), setting ambitious targets to tackle climate change. The plan outlines a path to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, compared to 2015 levels, with a long-term vision of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. These goals are closely aligned with regional and national climate commitments and follow the guidance of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Each strategy is mapped to corresponding actions in the County’s Climate Action Plan, ensuring a unified approach. By implementing sustainable practices, the city aims to create a healthier, greener community for future generations. Bowie’s CAP not only addresses local needs but also contributes to the broader global movement for climate resilience and environmental stewardship.
