HBCU Bands Motivate High Schoolers at First Capitol Battle of the Bands

The first Capitol Battle of the Bands featured Bowie State and Howard University, along with high school bands, in an inspiring event at the University of Maryland’s SECU Stadium. Hosted by the High Stepping Nationals and 100 Black Men of Prince George’s County, the event celebrated HBCU culture and motivated aspiring students. High schoolers from Bowie, Eastern, and Brooklyn were captivated by the performances, reaffirming their aspirations to join top bands like Morgan State and North Carolina A&T. The showcase emphasized mentorship, musical excellence, and the importance of community.
