Celebrate National Care for Kids Day with Fun Family Activities in Bowie
National Care for Kids Day is a fun, meaningful holiday created to celebrate and support the well-being of children across the U.S. First launched in 2022, this special day takes place every year on September 20th. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of nurturing, protecting, and caring for children, both physically and emotionally. Families and communities come together to provide love, guidance, and essential resources for kids to thrive.
In Bowie, there are plenty of exciting ways to celebrate National Care for Kids Day! Families can explore Allen Pond Park, a local favorite, offering a picturesque lake, playgrounds, and picnic spots—perfect for an afternoon of fun. Another option is the Bowie Ice Arena, where kids can skate and enjoy some active time. Additionally, Bowie Library hosts family-friendly events, including story time and crafts, to spark young imaginations.
Whether through a fun outing or community involvement, Bowie families have endless ways to show they care!
Bowie’s Process for Court Reservations for Local Team
Community organizations in Bowie can request court time for youth and adult sports leagues twice a year. For the fall/winter season (September to March), allocations are given to teams from the South Bowie Boys and Girls Club, Bowie Boys and Girls Club, local private schools, and adult volleyball leagues. The spring/summer season (April to August) focuses on AAU Youth basketball and other sports programs.
Groups must follow the Gym Allocation Process, which requires submitting necessary documents by set deadlines. For the fall/winter season, forms must be completed by July, while for the spring/summer season, the deadline is February. Teams must consist of at least 60% Bowie residents. Youth organizations can also request court time for summer basketball camps, with applications due by February 1. Deposits are required to secure court time and must be paid by specified dates to secure the reservations.
