Unlock Your Creativity: Apply for a Bowie Art Grant
The City of Bowie invites individuals and organizations to apply for an Art Grant to develop art programs for residents. Applications are due by September 20 at 5 pm.
A virtual clinic on August 22 will provide more information. Bowie promotes arts through city-maintained galleries, grants for community art programs, support for the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, and the Bowie Playhouse. The city also sponsors summer concerts at Allen Pond Park and Town Green in Old Town Bowie. The fillable PDF application is available on the city’s website.
Help Animals Find Homes: Clear The Shelters Is Back
In August 2024, NBCUniversal Local is partnering with hundreds of shelters nationwide to host the annual Clear The Shelters campaign. This initiative aims to find loving homes for animals in need and encourage donations to support shelter operations. Since its inception in 2015, Clear The Shelters has successfully placed over 1 million pets into forever homes. The campaign highlights the importance of pet adoption and mobilizes communities to help reduce the number of animals in shelters. By teaming up with local shelters, NBCUniversal Local hopes to continue this trend, ensuring that even more animals find the care and companionship they deserve. For more information on how to participate or donate, visit the official Clear The Shelters website.
