Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union (PGCFCU) announced its support for the Bowie Food Pantry starting August 1, 2024. Know How the Washington Capitals Got Their Nickname?

Fifty years ago, Abe Pollin introduced the Washington Capitals, naming the team through a public vote. The name, inspired by Pollin’s Capitol Centre, was suggested by Mrs. John Storlarick, a lifelong hockey fan from Alexandria. The selection was announced by Coach Schmidt, who praised the fitting choice. This historic moment marked the beginning of the Capitals’ legacy.

Long-time Maryland season ticket holder, the Horn Guy, energizes the crowd with his iconic horn blasts and "LET'S GO CAPS" chants. Another superfan, the GOAT, is known for his booming cheers heard throughout the arena. In the 2018 Stadium Series, the Capitals’ jersey featured "CAPS" across the chest, celebrating their first game in Maryland since the Capital Centre closed. Fans celebrated with an epic flyover and a victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, showcasing their unwavering support.
