New Leadership for Maryland State Education Association

The Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) has new leadership starting Thursday. Paul Lemle, a Howard County social studies teacher and former president of the Howard County Education Association, is the new president, succeeding Cheryl Bost. Nikki Woodward, an early intervention specialist from Montgomery County, is the new vice president. Lemle, a cancer survivor with experience in special education, emphasizes the importance of good benefits and a stable career for teachers. Woodward highlights public education as an equalizer for all learners. The MSEA, with 75,000 members, is a powerful political force in Maryland, known for supporting the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education reform plan. Bost had been a strong advocate for this initiative during her tenure.
