Get Involved: Seven-Week Planning Course Offered by Prince George’s County
Prince George’s County is offering a unique opportunity for residents to delve into the intricacies of local planning with a free, seven-week Planning Course. This comprehensive program covers the essentials of the county's planning process, zoning laws, land use, and community development. Participants will gain valuable insights into how decisions are made and how they can influence future projects. The course is designed to be interactive and engaging, featuring expert speakers, hands-on activities, and real-world case studies. It's an excellent chance for community members to become more involved and informed about the growth and development of their neighborhoods. Spaces are limited, so interested residents are encouraged to sign up early and take part in shaping the future of Prince George’s County.

Early Voting Starts Today for Prince George's County Primary Election
Early voting for the Special Council At-Large Primary Election in Prince George's County starts today, July 31, 2024, and continues through August 5, 2024. Polls will be open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with Sunday hours from Noon to 6:00 PM. Voters should bring a valid ID and their voter registration card if they have it.
Primary Election Day is on August 6, 2024, with polls open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Early voting is encouraged to avoid long lines, choose a convenient time, and ensure your vote is counted. More details can be found on the Board of Elections website.

Honoring Hank Aaron: USPS Unveils Forever Stamp in Bowie

The U.S. Postal Service and the Negro League Legends Hall of Fame (NLLHOF) will honor baseball legend Henry “Hank” Aaron with a commemorative Forever stamp dedication event. This tribute celebrates Aaron's illustrious career and his impact beyond the field. The dedication, led by Dwayne Renal Sims, NLLHOF founder, and Mark Wahl, USPS Strategic Communications Specialist, will occur on Saturday, August 17, at 10:00am at Prince George’s County Stadium in Bowie, MD. The event coincides with the NLLHOF East/West All-Star Vintage Baseball Game, celebrating the 91st anniversary of the original Negro East-West All-Star game. Tickets are free and available online at www.nllhof.org. Special pictorial and Henry Aaron Forever stamps will be available for collectors.

Six Flags America Implements New Chaperone Policy for Minors
Six Flags American announced their new chaperone policy. With a commitment to safety Six Flags America’s goal is to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests. Starting Friday, July 26, 2024, a new chaperone policy was implemented. Guests aged 15 or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone aged 21 or older after 4 p.m. The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo ID and can supervise up to ten minors. They must accompany their group at entry, stay in the park, and be reachable by phone throughout the visit. Unaccompanied minors will be subject to ejection. This policy applies to all ticket holders and season passholders. These changes aim to maintain a positive atmosphere for families and friends to enjoy the park's unique experiences and entertainment.
